Mandated Reporter Online Training

The California Institute on Human Services in partnership with the Office of Child Abuse Prevention has developed an online mandated reporter training. This training gives a good overview of the rules and regulations regarding reporting suspected child abuse.
The program is a self-paced approach to learning what a mandated child abuse reporter needs to know about the requirements of the law, how to spot evidence of child abuse, and how to report it, and what happens after a report is filed. It consists of a pre-test, three lessons, and a post-test.
After you have completed the program, you will know:
- What constitutes child abuse and neglect
- What evidence may alert you that abuse or neglect is occurring
- What the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act requires you to do, as a mandated reporter, if you observe evidence of abuse or neglect
- What protections the Act provides for you
- How to file a report with a child protective or law enforcement agency
- What happens after a report is filed
- Special issues and concerns related to your field
Four contact hours in Continuing Education Units (CEUs) may be earned by Marriage and Family Therapists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Registered Nurses after completing the online training.
