Dress for Success



(Bakersfield -- February 19, 2003) A strong economy depends on a working population, and Dress for Success, the non-profit organization that helps low-income women make tailored transitions into the workforce, is committed to doing its part. In this time of uncertainty and change, Dress for Success is sending an S.O.S. to women everywhere.
S.O.S ~ Send One Suit - Anyone wishing to make an immediate and meaningful difference in a woman’s life can donate their new or nearly new women’s business attire to Dress for Success. All donations will help low-income women land a job and stay employed. These suits symbolize our faith in every woman’s ability to succeed.
dressbarn, one of America's premier specialty retailers of women's career and casual fashions, is the national drop-off site for Clean Your Closet Week 2003. During Clean your Closet Week, dressbarn's 750 stores will reward anyone who brings in a new or nearly new interview appropriate suit with special savings for themselves, including a $10 certificate.
Dress for Success provides interview suits and job training to low-income women who are referred by diverse non-profit organizations. Professional Women’s Group, Dress for Success’s job retention program, is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor as an innovative answer to attrition rates.
In Bakersfield, the Kern County Bar Association will co-sponsor a champagne and hors d’oeuvres Open House at the Dress for Success Bakersfield boutique on Wednesday, March 19th from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, March 20th, KGET Channel 17 will serve as an S.O.S. donation drop-off site. Donations are received daily at the Dress for Success boutique.
