COMMUNITY SERVICES:
Community Disaster Education
Community Disaster Education is a one-hour presentation geared for children K-6th grade. It teaches children what to do if there is a hurricane, tornado, flood, thunderstorm, or fire. This course will also teach children how to develop a family disaster plan as well as a disaster checklist. A Red Cross representative will come to your class and share this program with your students.
Safety Presentation
This course teaches children how to respond in emergency situations. Students learn how to assess and report emergencies. Some hands on practice involved.
Babysitting
The babysitting course prepares youth between the ages of 11 and 15 to combine the knowledge and skills associated with leadership, safety, and professionalism toward becoming a safe, responsible, and successful babysitter.
Master of Disaster Master of Disaster is a curriculum that will help elementary school teachers enhance their lessons in Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies while providing students with information to help them prepare for disasters and stay safe during and after a disaster. This brand new curriculum offered by American Red Cross can be tailored to meet the need of pre-k through 8th grade. The Red Cross will provide you with material that you need to implement this curriculum.
HEALTH & SAFETY
B.A.T. (Basic Aid Training)
Designed for grades 4-5, through this 6 hour course children learn basic skills and knowledge about preventing potentially harmful situations and how to treat common injuries and respond to emergency situations.
W.H.A.L.E. Tales (Water Habits Are Learned Early)
This 1-hour water safety course teaches children how to prevent accidents and what to do in case of an emergency at the beach, lake, or pool. We will provide you with the information to teach this course or send a certified Red Cross instructor. (Classroom course: pool not required).
F.A.C.T. (First Aid for Children Today)
This 9-hour course is designed for grades K-3. It teaches children health promotion and injury prevention. Children learn about managing their own health and safety as well as caring for their environment.
Learn to Swim
From basic water exploration to stroke development and then proficiency, Learn-to-Swim helps people of all ages and abilities develop and refine their swimming skills. (Taught by community organizations using Red Cross trained instructors).
