Grant Research Center

A Grant Research Center is available at the Beale Memorial Library. It is designed to help grant seekers, including private and public agencies and individuals, to identify potential grant makers.

The Grant Research Center includes print sources such as the Foundation Directory, and monthly publications like Corporate Giving Watch. The Center also has two computers dedicated to grant searching, both with access to FC Search, which is a very powerful database of over 56,000 U.S. foundations and corporate givers.

Using FC Search, a grant seeker can enter a kind of grant being sought, such as "playground equipment" and a location and obtain detailed information about specific foundations which might award that kind of grant. FC Search is updated every six months. In addition to the two computers in the Grant Research Center, FC Search is also available at six computers near the Reference Desk via CD Rom.

The Grant Research Center is located in Bakersfield at the Beale Library, 701 Truxtun Ave., on the second floor near the Reference Desk. It is available during normal library hours and appointments are not necessary. There are always professional Librarians on duty at the Reference Desk, who can assist in using the materials.

For further information about the Grant Research Center, call the Beale Library Reference Desk at 661-868-0770.
