Brief Biography
As Administrator for the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF), Magda is responsible for the day-to-day program operation. Her duties include supervision of 29 full-time employees and 12 programs that provide daily employment training services for over 300 Kern County residents. She has successfully written proposals to obtain additional funding for senior citizens programs and corporate funding to supplement non-federal matching requirements.

Prior to her appointment to Administrator, Magda was a Program Coordinator for MAOF. As Program Coordinator, she served as Project Director for the Senior Community Service Employment Program and Project Director for the Senior Companion/Foster Grandparent Program, as well as Coordinator for all related activities at the Vida Scott Center, which includes a Youth Work Experience Program, a Computer Learning Center and English as a Second Language Program.

Magda also held the position of Supportive Services Coordinator where she developed and maintained the supportive services program for Kern County's job training program interviewed, counseled, and provided information and referral and determined eligibility for financial assistance for food, utilities, childcare, health and legal assistance.

Agency Description
Originally founded in 1960 in the East Los Angeles area, by the great humanitarian, Dionicio Morales, Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) /Bakersfield has been helping the citizens of Kern County for over 25 years.

MAOF's mission is to provide multi-purpose educational and charitable assistance to the general public without regard to gender, race, color, creed, national origin, or physical or mental condition, age, marital status, domestic partnership or sexual orientation including persons with HIV/AIDS. We are also committed to seeking, developing, and administering projects, programs, research and related activities on behalf of the socially and economically disadvantaged children, youths, adults, and older persons.

In March 2001, MAOF opened it's first preschool in Kern County. The preschool is located at 715 E. California Ave. in Bakersfield.
