FYS Peer Mentors

Emancipated Youth who have aged out of the foster care system can relate to current foster students, and also understand their educational barriers. In an effort to increase academic success and graduation rates, and decrease truancy and behavior issues, FYS has employed Emancipated Foster Youth to provide educational support, resources and appropriate support resources for students at risk of failing in school.

FYS Peer Mentors:

  • Provide support, advocacy & training for foster youth
  • Encourage foster students toward completion of educational programs & graduation
  • Provide transitional assistance for emancipating youth
